House Republicans Block Russia Sanctions Bill

After recruiting Trump, the KGB and Moscow have clearly also managed to make all House Republicans their puppets, because the Senate bill that passed last week and slapped new sanctions on Russia (but really was meant to block the production on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia and which Germany, Austria and France all said is a provocation by the US and would prompt retaliation) just hit a major stumbling block in the House.

At least that's our interpretation of tomorrow's CNN "hot take."

Shortly after House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady of Texas said that House leaders concluded that the legislation, S. 722, violated the origination clause of the Constitution, which requires legislation that raises revenue to originate in the House, and would require amendments, Democrats immediately accused the GOP of delaying tactics and "covering" for the Russian agent in the White House.

Russian Su-27 warns off NATO F-16 trying to approach defense minister’s plane over Baltic (VIDEO)

Dunford or whomever runs the US Military these days is playing a very dangerous game.

A NATO F-16 fighter jet has tried to approach the Russian defense minister’s plane above the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea. The plane was warded off by a Russian Su-27 escorting the minister’s aircraft.

WATCH Su-27 Chase NATO F-16 Away From Russian Defense Minister's Plane

Earlier in the day, a Sputnik correspondent reported that the NATO aircraft attempted to get close to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu's plane over neutral Baltic waters but was chased away by the Su-27.

Shoigu was en route to the westernmost Russian city of Kaliningrad when the F-16 attempted to make an approach.

Russia's Sukhoi Su-27 fighter, one of the aircraft escorting Shoigu's plane, then displayed its weapons, prompting the F-16 to retreat.

NATO's Buildup Pushes 'Situation at Russian Border Toward Deterioration'

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) activities in Eastern Europe are deteriorating the situation near western Russia, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a ministerial board meeting Wednesday.

"The situation developing near our western borders tends toward deterioration. This is due to the increased military activity of NATO countries in Eastern Europe," Shoigu said.

He pointed to the western alliance's build-up in the Baltics and "the improving infrastructure of their seaports, airfields and other military facilities."

Are US and Russia inching toward confrontation in Syria?

The downing of a Syrian military plane by a US fighter jet is the latest - and perhaps most serious - sign of a stepped-up US military role in the war. That could put the United States on a collision course with Russia.

Russian fighter jet warns off NATO aircraft by displaying its weapons after the F-16 'buzzed' plane carrying Moscow defence minister over Baltic Sea

A Russian fighter jet chased off a NATO aircraft after it buzzed a plane carrying defence minister Sergei Shoigu over the Baltic Sea, Russian news agencies have said.

The F-16 had tried to approach the aircraft carrying the defence minister even though it was flying over neutral waters, agencies said today, before a Russian Sukhoi-27 turned up to warn it off.

Shoigu was reported to be en route to the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad for a meeting to discuss how well Russia's western flank was defended.

In dramatic footage appearing to show the incident unfolding, a Sukhoi-27 can be seen flying between an F-16 and another plane before tilting its wings. The F-16 then seems to fly off.

If The U.S. Continues To Creep Toward World War 3, Eventually It Is Going To Happen

After a bit of a lull for the past couple of months, the march toward war appears to be accelerating once again. On Monday the U.S. military shot down yet another Syrian aircraft, and it appears that President Trump’s patience with North Korea’s nuclear program may have run out.

US and Russia Teetering on the Brink of War: What You are Not Being Told

On June 18, 2017, prominent U.K. newspaper the Guardian asked an important question: Has Trump opened the door to conflict with Iran?

According to Foreign Policy, a pair of top White House officials are pushing to broaden the war in Syria against Iranian-backed troops who are currently posing a major threat to the American military's goals in the region.
FP explains:

Ezra Cohen-Watnick, the senior director for intelligence on the National Security Council, and Derek Harvey, the NSC's top Middle East advisor, want the United States to start going on the offensive in southern Syria, where, in recent weeks, the U.S. military has taken a handful of defensive actions against Iranian-backed forces fighting in support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Provocation: Russians answer why they come close to the US plane

On the occasion of approaching Russian fighter US reconnaissance plane over the Baltic Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian agents for the control of airspace over neutral waters of the Baltic Sea recorded a goal that is sent to the Russian state border.

Therefore, as stated, flew fighter Su-27 air defense of the Baltic Fleet, which is the target identified as RC-135th

The crew of the US plane attempted to approach the Russian fighter aircraft turning to the Su-27, which the Russian side assessed as a provocation.

The ministry said that all flights over neutral waters of the Baltic Sea are conducted in accordance with international rules.

"As to the alleged (Russian) provocations, we want to emphasize that it is literally 10 minutes later in the zone entered another RC-135 which is also intercepted a Russian Su-27," said the Ministry of Defense.

Ready for Revenge: How Syria Will Respond to US for Attack on Its Jet

In an interview with Sputnik, Syrian MP Ammar al-Asad said that his country's army will not respond in kind to the US recently shooting down a Syrian military jet over Syrian territory, near the city of Tabqa.

US Navy F-18E Super Hornet

Additionally, the Syrian-Iraqi border will be strengthened and the logistics routes of terrorists from Deir ez-Zor to Jordan will be blocked, according to al-Asad.

He also said that the pilot of the Syrian fighter jet downed by a US aircraft is currency safe and sound.

"Using modern technology, the exact location of the plane crash was tracked to territory controlled by terrorists. The special units of the Syrian Army carried out a successful rescue operation and the pilot's health is out of harm's way now," al-Asad said.

U.S.-backed SDF will retaliate if Syrian govt attacks again: spokesman

U.S.-backed Syrian militias accused the Syrian government on Monday of bombing their positions southwest of Raqqa city in recent days and threatened to retaliate if the attacks continue.

"The regime's forces have mounted large-scale attacks using planes, artillery, and tanks since June 17," Syrian Democratic Forces spokesman Talal Selo said in a statement.

Selo said the attacks targeted SDF areas near the town of Tabqa and the adjacent dam, Syria's largest, which the alliance of Kurdish and Arab militias captured from Islamic State militants in May.

There was no immediate comment from the Syrian army.

The Kurdish-led SDF began this month to push into Raqqa, Islamic State's base of operations in Syria. With air strikes and special forces from the U.S.-led coalition, they had been encircling the city since November.

This is about to get very ugly, and very quickly.

EU extends Crimea sanctions, same seen for curbs on Russia

The European Union on Monday extended for another year its trade sanctions on the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, annexed by Russia from Ukraine in 2014, and diplomats said they expected the bloc to do the same for its sanctions on Moscow soon.

Moscow's annexation of Crimea is not internationally recognized. Along with Moscow's subsequent backing of an armed separatist rebellion in Ukraine's industrial east, it has prompted the bloc to impose sanctions on the peninsula and on Moscow, in sync with the United States.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is painfully clear that 1. the EU is stuck on stupid, when it comes to the financial opportunities trading with Russia and Crimea would bring its members, and 2. the writer of this piece of codswallop either has not a clue about the recent history of either Ukraine or Crimea, or is deliberately lying, to make these sanctions appear "justified".

In 2014, the US government worked with the IMF, and various Soros-sponsored organisations, and overthrew the duly elected President of Ukraine, President Yanukovich, replacing him in a rigged election with the western-centric thug, Poroshenko. Even President Obama admitted to such collusion in 2015:

Washington Was Behind Ukraine Coup: Obama admits that US “Brokered a Deal” in Support of “Regime Change”

You also had Victoria Nuland bragging about how much money the US spent to destabilise Ukraine:

The United States spent $5 billion on Ukraine anti-government riots

When Poroshenko took over the reigns of government in Ukraine, Crimean officials understood that there was not going to be anything approximating the rule of law in Kiev, so they did two things:

1st,they held a free and fair referendum, asking Crimeans if they wanted to stay with Ukraine, or petition the Russian Federation to join it.

Crimeans vote to join Russian Federation with a 97% vote

Secondly, then petitioned the Russian Federation to accept it as a member, and the Russian Federation did just that.

Russia never annexed Crimea; Crimea petitioned the Russian Federation to become a member.

This was a priceless example of peaceful self-determination by the Crimean people, but is treated by Ukraine and the West as betrayal, which must be punished.

After the ISIS War, a US-Russia Collision?

Washington says the Syrian plane was bombing U.S.-backed rebels. Damascus says its plane was attacking ISIS.

Vladimir Putin’s defense ministry was direct and blunt:

"Repeated combat actions by U.S. aviation under the cover of counterterrorism against lawful armed forces of a country that is a member of the U.N. are a massive violation of international law and de facto a military aggression against the Syrian Arab Republic."

An ABC report appears to back up Moscow’s claims:

"Over the last four weeks, the U.S. has conducted three air strikes on pro-regime forces backed by Iran that have moved into a deconfliction zone around the town of Tanf in southwestern Syria, where there is a coalition training base for local forces fighting ISIS."

Russia has now declared an end to cooperation to prevent air clashes over Syria and asserted an intent to track and target aerial intruders in its area of operations west of the Euphrates.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Pat Buchanan is a little more optimistic than I am regarding the start of such a conflict. He is putting it after a successful outcome to getting the jihadists out of Raqqa; I honestly think that such a conflict will come far sooner than that, and that we are seeing the opening salvos of such a conflict happening now.

US Repositioning Aircraft Over Syria Amid Growing Russia Tensions

In a move that appears to have been directly precipitated by Russia’s warning about US warplanes being treated as “targets” earlier in the day, Central Command (Centcom) has announced that they are repositioning US aircraft that are deployed inside Syria.

With the US increasingly shifting its aerial focus to attacking pro-government forces in Syria, instead of just ISIS, the risk is also growing substantially, as Russia’s comments today make it clear they don’t intend to let the US attack Syrian government targets with impunity.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I frankly think it is only a matter of time before there is a direct military confrontation between Russian and USSA (Unhinged, Surveilled State of America) troops.

I hope to heck I am dead wrong, but that is the path the US government and military seem to want to pursue right now.

America’s Role in Syrian War Is Widening

A growing number of US attacks targeting the Syrian government and militias aligned with the Syrian government are a sign that the US involvement in the Syrian Civil War is widening, and nothing was so indicative of this than yesterday’s US downing of a Syrian Su-22 bomber.

The sudden US military involvement in attacking Syrian government forces doesn’t make the US agenda any simpler, and rather leaves the Pentagon fighting against a growing array of rivals, with danger of a direct military conflict against Russia growing all the time.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I don't know what the Vegas odds are on a direct US/Russian confrontation over Syria, but I would be willing to imagine that they're pretty good right now, unfortunately.

Australia suspends air missions over Syria amid US-Russia tensions

Australia has suspended air combat missions over Syria after Russia threatened that it would treat any plane from the US-led coalition flying west of the Euphrates river as a potential target.

Russia said it was responding to US planes shooting down a Syrian air force jet on Sunday. The US said its planes had acted to defend US-backed forces seeking to capture Raqqa, the Islamic State (Isis) stronghold in north-east Syria.

“As a precautionary measure, Australian defence force strike operations into Syria have temporarily ceased,” the Australian Department of Defence said on Tuesday.

Australia has six fighter jets based in the United Arab Emirates that strike targets in Syria and Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The government of Australia is demonstrating far more "horse sense" than is the Unhinged, Surveilled State of America at this point in time.

US JETS SHOOT DOWN ‘IRANIAN DRONE’ IN SYRIA - COALITION

An Iranian-made drone was shot down by a US F-15 fighter jet in southern Syria, near At Tanf, the US-led coalition said. It is the fifth time in the past month the US has struck at forces allied with the Syrian government in the area.
An armed Shaheed-129 UAV “displayed hostile intent and advanced on Coalition forces” at 12:30 am local time on Tuesday, the coalition said in a statement. The drone was observed in the same area where another UAV was shot down on June 8.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump, a word, please: this slouching toward a war with Iran and Russia over Syria is a really, really, bad idea.

Your foreign policy (if, in fact, you have truly crafted it, and it is not some Frankenstinian creation of the Deep State in this country) is writing checks our American military cannot cash.

And I say that with absolute respect for our military; but right at this point in its history, it doesn't have the money; the weaponry; the manufacturing; or the troop strength to insure a positive outcome against Russia and Iran in conventional warfare.

Flashback: Russian Ambassador Visited Obama White House 22 Times

Yet, Democrats are obsessed about Russia. It’s got to the point where some of them think that any meeting with the Russians is inappropriate. And yes, Democrats have lied about their own meetings with Sergey Kislyak. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) have said they did not meet with Kislyak, only to have pictures or past tweets confirm that they did meet him. During the Obama presidency, Sergey Kislyak met with the then-president 22 times. Are we going to have an investigation over that? Probably not—and I’m sure in both Sessions and Obama’s cases, nothing occurred. It was a typical interaction between a foreign official and a member of Congress that occurs daily. In Obama’s case, it was a meeting that comes with the job description.

Armed Russian jet comes within 5 feet of US recon jet

An armed Russian fighter jet buzzed a U.S. Air Force reconnaissance aircraft in the Baltic Sea on Monday, two U.S. officials told Fox News.

The Russian Su-27 jet had air-to-air missiles under its wings and approached the U.S. Air Force RC-135 recon jet "rapidly," coming within 5 feet of the American aircraft, the officials said.

Once alongside, the Russian jet was “provocative” in its flight maneuvers and flying “erratically,” according to another official.

Since June 2 there have been more than 35 interactions in the Baltic Sea region between U.S. and Russian jets and warships, but the incident Monday morning is notable because the U.S. military considered it “unsafe,” according to one official.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF, in fact, this incident actually happened, this is the Russian military's way of saying, "Please don't mess with us, because there will be consequences!"

And please note; the description of the flying by the Russian pilot... is not sourced.

UNITED STATES SIGNALS INTENTION TO OCCUPY EASTERN SYRIA AND DIVIDE THE NATION

The US version of the incident goes like this (courtesy of The Hill)…

A statement from the U.S. military said it shot down the Syrian SU-22 in self-defense and after contacting Russian counterparts through the established deconfliction zone. The Syrian aircraft was bombing U.S.-backed forces fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) south of Tabqa. It was the first time the United States has shot down a Syrian plane, and the first time a U.S. military jet has shot down any manned aircraft since 1999.
The reality is much more complex, yet simpler. Syria was flying its jets over Syrian sovereign territory, moving to attack Al Qaeda jihadists (aka “moderate rebels”) operating illegally in Syrian territory, and backed up by US forces, which have set up operations illegally within Syrian sovereign territory.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is officially horrible.

There are those elements in the American Deep State which are salivating over the prospect of war with Russia and Iran; they are, unfortunately, completely, certifiably delusional, because at this point in our military's history, our military not have the weaponry; the money; the troop strength; or the manufacturing to ensure a positive outcome of a conventional war with Russia.

Yes, the US government spends a great deal for its weapons; but it winds up with the kinds of military nightmares like the F/A-18 Hornet, which may well be causing Sec Def Mattis some sleepless nights.

ISRAEL SECRETLY PAYING SALARIES OF SYRIAN REBELS ON GOLAN HEIGHTS BORDER: REPORT

Israel is secretly supporting Syrian rebels operating near its occupied Golan Heights territory, providing money, food, fuel and medical supplies, according to fighters who claim to receive the aid.

Israel has previously treated wounded Syrian rebels in its hospitals but interviews with rebels conducted by the Wall Street Journal suggest that Israel is directly supporting opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the six-year-long civil war.

Israel is opposed to the rule of Assad and his forces. It also sees militants belonging to Lebanese militia Hezbollah who support Assad’s regime forces as posing a threat to its security on the Golan Heights border.

World On The Precipice As Russia Threatens To Shoot Down U.S. Jets, U.S. Refuses To Back Down

By Brandon Turbeville

The world is now perhaps closer to World War Three than it has been in five decades as the situation in Syria is heating up yet again. In less than 24 hours, the United States has attacked the Syrian military, Iran has launched missiles into Syria, Russia is threatening to shoot down American planes, and the United States is digging in its heels and threatening to continue to provoke both the Russians and the Syrians.

While that about sums up the current micro-version of the situation, it’s important to get a rundown of just what led up to the precipice we are all standing on...

Are Russia And The Saudis Planning A Natural Gas Cartel?

At the same time, Russia and Saudi continue to give indications of a possible OPEC 2.0 scenario, in which a possible Russian membership is on the table. This would confront the market with a renewed and stronger oil cartel, although the overall strategies need to be adjusted. At the same time, Saudi Arabia, via its oil giant Aramco has openly stated to be interested in global gas investment opportunities, starting in Russia’s Siberian region. While the media still looks at the current discussions as a pure crude oil cooperation strategy, some see another development on the horizon. The real power of OPEC, non-OPEC cooperation would increase if they would not only include a crude oil production cut, but also integrate the other (hidden) cartel, the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). An OPEC 2.1, including gas exporters, would really block any negative developments in the market, even shale oil and gas.

Belgium Extends Air Force Mission against Syria

Speaking during his visit to Canada, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel confirmed that Belgium has extended the Belgian Air Force’ mandate for missions in Syria until the end of 2017.

Michel said the decision would be formally confirmed during the next session of the Council of Ministers in Brussels. The small European country has earmarked another 17 million euro for the operation.

The current mission mandate was coming to a close in June, but it will be extended for another six months. Under the new mandate, some 100 personnel and four fighter jets will be stationed in Jordan.

Michel said this would show that Belgium is

“a reliable partner in the fight against terrorism”. He added: “This is a strong signal towards our partners. Belgium is a reliable partner in an international coalition. We also want to show we are operational. After the NATO summit, this proves we are taking up our responsibility within Europe.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Erdogan Slams US for Building Air Bases in Syrian Kurdistan: Slams US Soldiers Being 'Arm in Arm' With Terrorists

With the Kurdish YPG advancing into the ISIS capital of Raqqa, and US officials already designating Mayadin the “next ISIS capital,” there’s clearly a lot more US-backed invasions for the Kurds to take part in, and the US is looking to make the backing of those invasions more convenient, setting up airbases in Kurdish territory.

That’s not sitting well with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who expressed particular outrage at the US having an air base in the Kurdish town of Kobani, along the Turkish border and reiterating his long-standing opposition to the US having ties with the YPG at all.

“I find the US approach to the YPG in no way chic,” Erdogan insisted, saying that US soldiers and military officers are “hand in hand, arm in arm” with a group that Turkey considers a terrorist group. He conceded that he understands the US doesn’t consider the Kurds terrorists.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So let me get this straight: the Unhinged, Surveilled State of America is building illegal bases in Syria, totally without the permission of that country, in order for Kurds to be able to found a homeland, at the expense of sovereign Syrian territory?!?!?

US-led coalition says hostile actions of Syrian pro-regime forces will not be tolerated

The US-led coalition conducting operations against the Islamic State terror group (outlawed in Russia - TASS) will not tolerate the hostile actions of pro-regime forces toward its own and partner forces in Syria, the coalition’s headquarters said in a statement provided to TASS.

The statement confirmed that on June 18, a US F/A-18 E aircraft had shot down a Syrian Su-22 bomber jet which, according to the coalition, had "dropped bombs near SDF (the Syrian Democratic Forces - TASS) fighters south of Tabqah." Before the incident, the coalition’s aircraft "conducted a show of force and stopped the initial pro-regime advance toward the SDF-controlled town."

"The Coalition presence in Syria addresses the imminent threat ISIS in Syria poses globally. The demonstrated hostile intent and actions of pro-regime forces toward Coalition and partner forces in Syria conducting legitimate counter-ISIS operations will not be tolerated," the statement adds.

NATO Holds Defense Drill Simulating Russian Invasion Of Baltics

NATO officials are growing increasingly nervous about the possibility of an invasion of the Baltic states ahead of Russian wargames planned this fall on the border of Belarus and Poland that could involve as many as 100,000 troops. That "anxiety" was on display this week, when US and British troops carried out the first NATO military exercise that involved a simulated defense of the Suwalki Gap, an area in northern Poland on the border with Lithuania that serves as the gateway to the Baltic region.

In other words, a drill against a Russian invasion of the Baltics states, and by extension, Europe.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The logical question is, why in the name of heaven would Vladimir Putin and Russia pull such a bone-headed stunt?!?

The short answer is, they wouldn't!

But I can hear the drumbeat of further demonisation of Russia, by the US and Europe, as a prelude to war against it.

IRAN, CHINA CONDUCT JOINT NAVAL DRILLS IN STRATEGIC STRAITS OF HORMUZ

And while the Syrian conflict has taken a back seat in recent weeks to the latest crisis to grip the Gulf region, namely the economic and territorial blockade of Qatar by its Arab neighbors, overnight China made an unexpected appearance, not surprisingly perhaps siding with the biggest supporter of the Assad regime, when as AP reported Iran's navy conducted a joint exercise with a Chinese fleet near the strategic Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf. It was only the second time the Chinese flotilla has visited the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas since 2014, and comes at a tense moment as the Senate last week passed a new round of sanctions against Tehran.

According to Iran's official IRNA news agency, Sunday's drill included an Iranian warship as well as two Chinese warships, a logistics ship and a Chinese helicopter that arrived in Iran's port of Bandar Abbas last week, and adds that the scheduled exercise "came before the departure of the Chinese fleet for Muscat, Oman."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russia to target planes from US-led coalition flying over parts of Syria

Russia has said it will target any plane from the US-led coalition flying west of the Euphrates river in Syria after the US military shot down a Syrian air force jet on Sunday.

Russia’s defence ministry said the US had given it no warning, and that as a consequence it was also suspending coordination over “deconfliction zones” that were created to prevent incidents involving US and Russian jets engaged in operations in Syria.

According to the Pentagon the Syrian jet in question had dropped bombs near US partner forces involved in the fight to wrest Raqqa from Islamic State (Isis) control. It was the first such US attack on a Syrian air force plane since Syria’s civil war began six years ago.

The West Can't Smell What Eurasia is Cooking

A tectonic geopolitical shift happened in Astana, Kazakhstan, only a few days ago, and yet barely a ripple registered in Atlanticist circles.

At the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), founded in 2001, both India and Pakistan were admitted as full members, alongside Russia, China and four Central Asian stans (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan).

So now the SCO not only qualifies as the largest political organization by area and population “ in the world; it also unites four nuclear powers.

Breaking: Intense clashes break-out between Syrian Army and US-backed forces in west Raqqa

BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:50 A.M.) – Intense clashes have broken out between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the western countryside of Al-Raqqa, tonight, a military source informed Al-Masdar.

According to the source, units from the Syrian Arab Army attempted to cross SDF front-lines in order to rescue their fallen pilot; however, they were turned away by the latter.

This resulted in a fierce confrontation that is currently ongoing between the two entities near the key town of Resafa in western Al-Raqqa.

It’s another week in Washington and another horror show. This time it was Attorney General Jeff Sessions being grilled by Senators on whether, when, and how he might have met with certain Russians, or any Russian, or someone who might actually know a Russian. In addition to fishing for any inconsistency that could be used to support an accusation of obstruction of justice or perjury – the usual sleazy methodology of politically motivated investigations here – the transparent aim was to further poison the well on any possible initiative to improve ties with Moscow.

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry says tensions rise in Nagorno-Karabakh

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reported on rising tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh on Saturday.

Azerbaijan president calls for soonest resumption of Karabakh talks
"The adversary is continuing to shell from high-caliber weapons and artillery guns the positions of Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces and settlements located in the immediate battle area," the defense ministry said in the statement.

On Friday, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reported its soldier’s death.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This situation is on the brink again of creating an horrendous, regional war.

To all parties involved: there needs to be a political resolution to this standoff, and I sincerely hope that Sergei Lavrov can do some shuttle diplomacy between Baku and Yerevan, to get tensions reduced here.

Stone's 'Putin Interviews' offend a US establishment drunk on its own exceptionalism

Oliver Stone’s documentary series on Vladimir Putin, you would think, is required viewing for Western audiences looking to see beyond the crude caricature of Russia’s president in order to gain an insight into his worldview.

Indeed, surely such an insight is absolutely necessary, what with Russia being the biggest country in Europe, a major nuclear power, and with the deepening tensions arising from Russia’s geostrategic differences and rivalry with Washington in recent years.

Yet for the Western liberal commentariat, condemnation rather than understanding is the order of the day, evidenced in the barrage of criticism with which Stone’s documentary series on the Russian leader has been received in the Western mainstream.

Tillerson: US Working for Regime Change in Iran

Speaking to the House Foreign Affairs Committee yesterday, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was asked about whether or not the Trump Administration’s policy is one of trying to impose regime change on Iran. While Tillerson insisted that the specifics of administration policy on Iran are still under development, he did confirm that the goal remains regime change.

Exactly how they expect to pull that off remains to be seen, but Tillerson said the US policy as it stands is to rely on “elements inside of Iran” who can be supported toward the end goal of regime change, with the hope it would be a “peaceful transition of that government.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why does there seem to be such a huge blood lust, on the part of the Deep State of the Unhinged Surveilled States of America, to go to war with Russia, to which an attack against Iran will almost inevitably lead?!?!?

Because it is on Israel's "US to-do list"?!?

Israel wants to see Iran regime changed, but constantly insists that this only happen through American blood, and American money.

US may attack Syrian troops with multiple rocket launchers — Russian Defense MinistryMore:http://tass.com/defense/951642

The United States may attack Syrian government troops with the HIMARS multiple rocket launchers moved to the al-Tanf military base in Syria from Jordan, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

"The Russian Defense Ministry has been keeping an eye on the situation along the Syrian-Jordanian border," the statement said.

The US earlier relocated two High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems from Jordan to the military base located near the city of al-Tanf, 18 kilometers from the Jordanian border.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, "the deployment of any foreign weapons to Syria’s territory should be agreed with the country’s government."

This move appears to indicate the US desiring a wider war against the Syrian government, which will most probably mean war against Russia.

Syria, Iran and N. Korea: Will Trump Attempt to Finish the Neocon Hitlist?

In Donald Trump’s short time in office, he has already shown his propensity to use military force. From dropping the largestnon-nuclear bomb ever used on Afghanistan, to launching 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at Iraq (oh wait, Syria), there is no doubt that the Trump administration has a prominent militaristic streak.

But is this just for starters? If Trump stays in power for the duration of his term, is there a major war, or even multiple wars, on the horizon? Judging by the rhetoric and actions already taken by the Trump administration, it will be a miracle if the US does not start a major war in the near future. Coincidentally, the main countries in the sights of the Trump administration just happen to be the three countries that the neoconservatives pinpointed for regime change 17 years ago, but have not yet been dealt with.

WHEN GENERALS MAKE POLICIES - FROM TACTICS TO STRATEGY TO POLITICAL DECISION

The U.S. has a problem with the former Marine General Mattis as Secretary of Defense. Mattis thinks tactics, not strategy.

It makes little sense to send additional troops when one does not what strategy they will have to serve. There is so far no other way to end the war in Afghanistan other than to simply pull out of it. The racket that the war has become can only be stopped by such a grand strategic decision. Sending troops before deciding on the strategy practically guarantees that the choice of a pull-out will be excluded from the evaluated possibilities. The tactical decision of sending more troops will drive the strategy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am very deeply concerned that the goal of the Deep State in the Unhinged, Surveilled States of America,is actually getting into
wars against China and Russia, to check the rise of the Yuan and Ruble in the international monetary world.

The problem is, at this point in its history, the US military does not have the money; the troop strength; the weaponry; or the manufacturing to effect a positive outcome with a conventional war against Russia and/or China.

The culture of American weapons manufacturers gives the heads of these corporations the luxury of believing that weapons and planes delivered so late, as to be obsolete, when delivered, is perfectly fine, coupled with mass cost overruns.

As a Christian pacifist activist, I abhor war as a way to resolve geopolitical differences, and always advocate for clean, clear, hard-won negotiations. That being said, if America is to be successful at war, this has got to change.

The Russian and Chinese governments are spending far less on their weapons and related systems than does the USSA, but definitely getting infinitely more bang for their weapons buck.

And what do Americans get for their tax dollar?!? I give you Lockheed Martin's F-35.

Putin announces plans to reinforce Syrian army

President Vladimir Putin has announced Russia's "medium-term" plans to beef up the Syrian army that is battling foreign-backed terrorist groups.

Speaking at a live question and answer session with citizens in Moscow on Thursday, Putin said the reinforcement of the Syrian army would allow Russian troops in the Arab country to return to their home bases.

Russia's air force, however, will continue helping Syria where necessary, Putin said, even though he expressed his keenness for a peaceful resolution of the crisis in Syria.

"We aim to establish a process a political settlement (in Syria) between all the sides involved," he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I frankly do not believe that the American military will give Putin the luxury of being able to fend off the "foreign terrorists" (which the Unhinged, Surveilled State of America is supporting) only via the use of air power.

And that has me very, very worried.

Syria: From ‘no boots on the ground’ to (not so secret) forward operating bases

It’s a familiar pattern by now. From “we’re staying out” to “just some logistical aid to rebels” to “okay, some mere light arms to fight the evil dictator” to “well, a few anti-tank missiles wouldn’t hurt” to “we gotta bomb the new super-bad terror group that emerged!” to “ah but no boots on the ground!” to “alright kinetic strikes as a deterrent” to “but special forces aren’t really boots on the ground per se, right?” And on and on it goes.

As of this week the public is getting a rare glimpse of more US boots on the ground in southern Syria. Not just boots, but a US Special Forces Forward Operating Base, along with evidence of US operational control of a sovereign country’s border crossing.

Caleb Weiss reports the following for Long War Journal:

Webmaster's Commentary:

The collective insanity of this ongoing war, on the part of the government of the Unhinged, Surveilled State of America against Syria, is right out there, on display in this move.

This is a monstrously illegal act, by a foreign government against the sovereign state of Syria, and I have to wonder just when US fighting forces in Syria are going to find themselves fighting Russian troops, on the ground.

Because it looks as though that is the state of affairs to which the US military appears to be headed at the moment.

US Airstrikes in Raqqa Causing ‘Staggering’ Loss of Civilian Life

An independent commission of UN war crimes investigators have denounced a “staggering loss of civilian life” that has resulted from the escalation of US airstrikes against the ISIS-held city of Raqqa since the beginning of the Kurdish invasion of the city last week.

The Kurdish YPG has been advancing on Raqqa for months, and the US airstrikes in the course of that operation have killed a lot of civilians too, but its grown precipitously in the past week, and the UN inquiry said US airstrikes in Raqqa had killed at least 300 civilians.

Human Rights Watch also chimed in, faulting the US for the use of toxic incendiary white phosphorus inside the city, saying it was unacceptable to use the chemical in populated areas, and that the US should show more care with such attacks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Being a citizen of a country which believes it can regime change any government, anywhere in the world, and by every and any means necessary, including using banned weapons (like white phosphorus in a heavily populated area) is not making me very happy right now.

This dovetails with another very disturbing article, also found at antiwar.com:

Putin said Russian cooperation with the US "goes without saying" because the countries are the "biggest nuclear powers".

HOW SERIOUS WAS RUSSIA’S “PROBING” OF U.S. ELECTION SYSTEMS?

NSA contractor Reality Winner allegedly leaked documents showing that Russia probed U.S. election systems days before the 2016 presidential election.
How big a crisis is this?

Washington’s Blog asked Bill Binney, the NSA executive who created the agency’s mass surveillance program for digital information, who served as the senior technical director within the agency, who managed six thousand NSA employees, the 36-year NSA veteran widely regarded as a “legend” within the agency and the NSA’s best-ever analyst and code-breaker, who mapped out the Soviet command-and-control structure before anyone else knew how, and so predicted Soviet invasions before they happened (“in the 1970s, he decrypted the Soviet Union’s command system, which provided the US and its allies with real-time surveillance of all Soviet troop movements and Russian atomic weapons”).

Binney told us:

Webmaster's Commentary:

So the ultimate reality, in terms of Russians allegedly having hacked the November 2016 election, is that there is no "there" there, in spite of Democrats deludedly imagining it to be so.

US NURTURED AL-QAEDA & SUPPORTED TERRORISTS IN CHECHNYA – PUTIN

The US is to blame for the rise of Al-Qaeda and its late mastermind Osama bin Laden, which it empowered to fight Soviet troops in Afghanistan, Vladimir Putin told Oliver Stone. Putin also said there is proof the CIA supported terrorists in Russia’s Chechnya.

In the first episode of Stone’s hugely anticipated Showtime series, which aired Monday night, the Russian leader reflected on the origin of Islamic extremist groups, including Al-Qaeda.

“Al-Qaeda is not the result of our activities. This is the result of activities of our US friends. This all started in the times of the Soviet war in Afghanistan, when the US security services supported different movements of Islamic fundamentalism in their struggle against the Soviet troops in Afghanistan,” Putin told Stone, adding that the “US side has nurtured both Al-Qaeda and [Osama] bin Laden.”

Washington should have foreseen that backing Islamists will backfire, with extremists eventually getting out of control.

Why am I thoroughly unsurprised by these revelations?!?

Video: Syrian Army Reaches Border with Iraq, Strategic Implications, Failure of US Plan to Create a Buffer Zone Controlled by Western Backed Militants?

On June 9, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allied militia groups reached the border with Iraq in the area north of the US-led coalition garrisons at the village of At Tanf and Al Zquf. This advance dramatically changed the strategic situation in southeastern Syria and de-facto allowed the Syrian-Iranian-Russian alliance to win the race for the border with Iraq.

The key goal of the US-led coalition actions near the border was to prevent the SAA from linking up with the allied Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) operating in Iraq and to build a buffer zone controlled by Western-backed militant groups between the two countries.

The PMU is a major power in Iraq and an official part of the Iraqi Armed Forces. It’s currently conducting a large-scale operation against ISIS terrorists at own side of the border. The June 9 advance destroyed the US-led coalition’s plans.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder; in light of this debacle, what is the US government and military are really prepared to do now to regime-change Damascus?!?

The following, very troubling article appeared yesterday in sputniknews.com:

Poster bearing a portrait of President Bashar al-Assad: Is US Preparing for Assad's Removal Amid Strikes on Damascus' Allies?

The article goes on to state:

"Washington is harboring a plan for a new "color revolution" in Syria, seeking to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and replace him with a pro-American submissive government, Russian Senator and intelligence veteran Igor Morozov told RIA Novosti.

The US is preparing a large-scale operation aimed at toppling Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and replacing him with a pro-American puppet regime, Russian Senator Igor Morozov, a member of the Federation Council's Foreign Affairs Committee, believes.

"The United States is making efforts to seize the strategic initiative in Syria by carrying out a 'color revolution' with the assistance of the armed forces; [they] are preparing an attack on Damascus to oust the current Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and install a submissive leadership in [Syria's] government," Morozov told RIA Novosti."

I hope to heck that Russian Senator Morozov is absolutely wrong on this; but unfortunately, just because a move is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid move the US government can make, us utterly no guarantee that they will not do it.

Such a move will most probably lead to war with Russia.

5,000+ NATO troops to take part in ‘Iron Wolf’ drills in Lithuania

NATO troops have begun a 10-day military exercise, Iron Wolf 2017, in Lithuania, as part of a broader series of maneuvers aimed at deterring Russian “aggression.” Around 5,300 troops from 10 NATO countries are set to take part
The maneuvers began Monday with opening ceremonies at military training grounds in Pabrade and Rukla (near Kaunas). The drills, which will last until June 23, are meant to test the capabilities of the German-led Forward Presence (eFP) Battalion Battle Group, also comprising soldiers from Belgium, the Netherlands and Norway. In July, Luxembourg will also contribute its forces to the group.

The exercises will be supervised by Lithuanian troops from the Iron Wolf Mechanised Infantry Brigade and the Žemaitija Brigade Motorized Infantry unit, who will plan and arrange defensive and offensive operations. The forces will practice coordination efforts and operating in populated areas.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Look for a possible false flag, to be blamed against Russia, when NATO does those exercises in the Suwalki Gap.

The timing (starting one week from Saturday, and ending next Monday), are absolutely perfect for the US 24 hour news cable, and the location is also absolutely perfect for some kind of "military mishap", to be blamed on Russia.

PUTIN MEETS WITH ETHEREUM FOUNDER TO CREATE NATIONAL VIRTUAL CURRENCY

Two weeks ago, in our latest comparison of Bitcoin and its up and coming competitor, Ethereum, we said "step aside bitcoin, there is a new blockchain kid in town." Actually, we said that for the first time back in February when Ethereum was still trading in the low teens (the return on ETH since then is roughly 3000%), but the most recent glance provided some perspective on where the competition between the two largest cryptocurrencies may culminate, because according to at least two venture capitalists, the market cap of Ethereum - currently roughly $35 billion - and whose share of the market has been soaring, will surpass that of Bitcoin, at ~$43 billion although it changes by the second, sometime before the end of 2018.

Two things: first, at the current rate of gains in Ethereum market share (and loss in Bitcoin's), the inflection point between the two will come not in months, or weeks, but perhaps days.

RUSSIA WARNS THE US TO NOT LAUNCH ANOTHER MILITARY STRIKE ON SYRIAN FORCES

According to Reuters, Russia has warned the U.S. not to attack Syrian-aligned troops again in the war-torn country. Reuters reports that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov relayed the message to U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in a phone call on Saturday — a phone call the U.S. reportedly initiated.
“Lavrov expressed his categorical disagreement with the U.S. strikes on pro-government forces and called on him to take concrete measures to prevent similar incidents in future,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said, as reported by Reuters. The U.S. has struck pro-Syrian troops numerous times in recent weeks and just recently shot down a Syrian drone — blatant acts of war against a sovereign nation. A Russian general also claimed that the U.S. may even be colluding with ISIS, allowing them safe passage to leave Raqqa as the U.S. military besieges the Syrian city.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I hope President Trump understands that he is playing with Russian fire, with this illegal intrusion on the war in Syria; but perhaps, that is just the point, to engage Syria and Russia so recklessly that Putin will have no choice but to respond militarily.

Unfortunately, just because a move isn't the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could do, is absolutely no guarantee that it will not do it.

FOUR MEMBERS OF SPECIAL COUNSEL MUELLER’S TEAM INVESTIGATING RUSSIA-TRUMP COLLUSION EXPOSED AS HILLARY CLINTON DONORS

It’s hard to believe how long an wide Hillary Clinton’s tentacles stretch across Washington, but the former Presidential candidate who hatched the Russia election meddling story in order to deflect away from her pathetic loss to Donald Trump, has her fangs firmly dug into Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel team.

The Hill reports that four members of Mueller’s independent team investigating Trump-Russia collusion (whatever that even means) have all been contributors to Hillary Clinton’s and/or Barack Obama’s previous campaigns.

Michael Dreeben, who serves as the Justice Department’s deputy solicitor general, is working on a part-time basis for Mueller, The Washington Post reported Friday.

Dreeben donated $1,000 dollars to Hillary Clinton’s Senate political action committee (PAC), Friends of Hillary, while she ran for public office in New York. Dreeben did so while he served as the deputy solicitor general at the Justice Department.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The vengeful, hateful, despicable Clinton is nearly spitting blood to achieve a geopolitical assassination of Trump by the hands of others; but all that will do is put Mike Pence in the White House as President.

Call me silly, but I think that this attempted robo-recall of a duly elected President is going to bite her in a very tender part of the human anatomy, and soon.

WWIII FEARS: Putin deploys 'kill-all' anti-missile system in warning shot to North Korea

VLADIMIR PUTIN is deploying his new-state-of-the-art Buk-M3 missile defence system in eastern Siberia in response to concerns over war breaking out in North Korea.

The move follows a warning by US defence secretary Jim Mattis this week that Kim Jong Un's regime is the world's "most urgent and dangerous threat to peace and security".

The Buk-M3 has no match among Western armaments, according to Moscow which has expressed "profound concern" over recent North Korean missile launches which "serve to heighten tensions", with US warships already on patrol in the region.

Oliver Stone on Vladimir Putin: ‘The Russian people have never been better off’

‘Have you ever been beaten?” Vladimir Putin poses the question to Oliver Stone close to the end of Stone’s extraordinary four-hour documentary on the Russian leader. “Yes,” says Stone. “So, it’s not going to be something new, because you are going to suffer for what you are doing,” says the Russian leader, before striding out of a room that conjures the spirit of the Sistine chapel crossed with the most fevered fantasies of Donald Trump’s interior designer.

In this instance, Putin was right. Stone’s epic four-part film The Putin Interviews was described by the Daily Beast as a “wildly irresponsible love letter” to Russia’s president. It “says as much about Oliver Stone as it does Vladimir Putin”, said CNN. “Flattery, but little scepticism,” said the New York Times.

Settlement, Soft Coup, Realignment or Regional War: 4 Scenarios for Qatar Crisis

The Russian International Affairs Council, a powerful Moscow-based think tank, estimates that there are four scenarios for resolving the ongoing diplomatic conflict between Qatar and other Arab and Muslim states. Written by renowned Middle East observer Vitaly Naumkin, the report outlines what Russia and its regional allies should be prepared for.

Under the first scenario, the parties resolve their differences as a result of mediation by regional and world powers. Doha will be forced to make some concessions, but will not be asked to sacrifice its key foreign policy initiatives, including friendly relations with Iran, and links to the Muslim Brotherhood.
The second scenario sees mediation efforts fail, and pressure on Qatar escalate. Amid threats of even more severe struggle, the emirate's leadership is forced to resign, and is replaced in a soft change of power scenario.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One thing Naumkin does not take into consideration here, is the absolute blood lust shared by Israel; Saudi Arabia; and the US government for regime change in Tehran, and soon.

And the US government and military are very excellent at maintaining wars which should have been over months and years ago, save for US military involvement; Naumkin should ask Syria's Bashar Al-Assad about that.

Regime changing Qatar's government, and making it more antagonistic toward Iran, and using the 11,000 US troops serving there, together with Saudi troops, plus the US Navy's 5th Fleet, stationed in Bahrain, could mount up to a formidable fighting force against Iran.

But the big question which people in Riyadh; DC, and Tel Aviv need to be asking themselves is, if the US goes up against Iran militarily, what will Russia do?!?

In this case, I am not of the opinion that the Duma is just going to sit around and sing "Kumbyah", but will authorise immediate military action on Iran's side, should the US and Saudi Arabia attempt to invade Iran, supported by Israeli intelligence.

Russian FM Warns US Not to Strike Syrian Pro-Government Forces

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in a phone call Saturday with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, warned that Russia considers the recent US attacks on pro-government forces in southern Syria categorically unacceptable, and said the US must take steps to prevent any further clashes of this sort.

The US had multiple recent incidents in which they’ve attacked Shi’ite militia forces in southern Syria, accusing them of getting too close to a rebel base which has US personnel stationed in it. The indications, however, are that the Shi’ite militias in the region have been attacking ISIS and al-Qaeda forces, not the US-backed rebels at al-Tanf.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I hope Trump's administration is listening, here; one more (deliberate) slip up, and the US government and military could well find itself at war with Russia over Syria; or, has that been the plan all along?!?

I don't know what the Vegas odds are here of the US and Russia going to war in Syria against each other might be, but I would suggest that we may be looking at a "when" issue here, rather than an "if" issue right now.

SAUDI ARABIA’S ATTACK ON QATAR UNRAVELS

A week into the crisis Saudi Arabia instigated when it broke diplomatic relations with Qatar and imposed a land and air blockade of the tiny Gulf state, it is becoming clear that it is failing to bring Qatar to heel.

Instead Qatar has successfully secured pledges of support from Turkey and Iran – the two military giants in this region – appears to have the tacit support of Kuwait, and is gaining diplomatic traction with Russia.

As for the US, though US President Trump has seemed to tilt to Saudi Arabia’s side in this quarrel, US Secretary of State Tillerson – who as a former oil executive must know this region well – seems intent on taking a more conciliatory line towards Qatar, calling for the blockade on Qatar to be lifted. I have no doubt it will be his counsels which in the US will eventually prevail.

Trump WON'T promise not to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller says president's attorney - arguing he's a 'unitary executive'

A member of President Trump's legal team, attorney Jay Sekulow, wouldn't commit the president to keeping around Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is now handling the Russia probe.

ABC News' George Stephanopoulos had Sekulow on This Week Sunday morning and asked him if the president would promise not to order his Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to fire Mueller.

'Look, the president of the United States, as we all know, is a unitary executive,' Sekulow said instead of answering the question definitively.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mueller only has the job because Comey's leak to the New York Slimes forced Sessions to recuse himself from an investigation which is now known to be based on non-existent evidence. The Special Counsel should be shut down, but it would be better if Congress did it, rather than Trump.

CrowdStrike, The DNC’s Security Firm, Was Under Contract With The FBI

Claims of “Russian interference” have been ubiquitous in U.S. political discourse for almost a full year now; these often amount to a melange of allegations ranging from “hacking” to “influence campaigns” to “online trolls” sent by the Kremlin to harangue unsuspecting Midwestern voters. “Hacking,” however, remains the centerpiece of the narrative?—?the idea that Russian state actors “hacked” the Democratic National Committee and exfiltrated emails is routinely cited as the centerpiece of the overall “interference” thesis. After the alleged hacking, the DNC retained a private security firm?—?CrowdStrike?—?which made the determination that the Russian government was responsible, setting into motion a chain of Russia-related events that continue to unfold even now.

Qatar Will Pay John Ashcroft $2.5 Million To Defend Against Terrorism Accusations

As a reminder, Ashcroft was U.S. attorney general under President George W. Bush from February 2001 to February 2005, years in which US policies and laws were reshaped by the so-called war on terrorism that followed the 2001 al Qaeda attacks. Under Ashcroft the US spawned the "Patriot Act", trampling over civil rights everywhere, and made pervasive spying on virtually everyone the norm, courtesy of the NSA.

Perhaps relying on the assumption that Qatar can simply bribe its way again into America's good graces - recall Qatar give Bill Clinton a $1 million "present" for his Birthday, and was one of the biggest foreign "donors" of the Clinton Foundation even when Hillary was still at the State Department...

Webmaster's Commentary:

I frankly do not believe, for a moment, that Saudi Arabia and the US will give Qatar the "grace period" for which it has asked; if, in fact, both countries are looking at war against Iran, things have to move swiftly, and without delay.

So look for some very terrible false flag to happen very soon to be blamed on the Qatari government, and then we are...off and running into a war against Iran, which will most probably mean a war with Russia.

Water supplies cut to Kiev-controlled settlements due to government’s troops shellingMore:http://tass.com/world/950640

Water supplies to Kiev-controlled settlements in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donbass were cut after the government troops shelled a water supply facility near the village of Yasinovataya, a negotiator of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) said.
"The vast majority of citizens, who were affected by the water supply cuts, reside on the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government," said Denis Pushilin, the head of the DPR delegation to the reconciliation talks in Minsk.
"Although our citizens faced no major disruptions due to a timely effort by our utility services, residents of about 40 settlements on the opposite side of the contact line will be a lot less lucky," the Donetsk News Agency quoted him as saying.

US-BACKED FORCES ENTER RAQQA AS COALITION DROPS WHITE PHOSPHORUS BOMBS

In what some speculate may be the beginning of the end for Daesh (ISIS), the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) entered Raqqa – Daesh’s Syrian stronghold – for the first time on Tuesday. SDF commander Rojda Felat told the AFP news agency that the group is “fighting street battles inside Raqqa now, and we have experience in urban warfare.” The advance came after heavy airstrikes by the U.S.-led coalition, which killed more than 20 civilians trying to flee the offensive by boat.

The push for the U.S.-backed SDF to claim Raqqa from Daesh has been in the works for over seven months, having only been made possible by U.S.-led coalition air support, thousands of military advisers and deliveries of heavy weapons. While the U.S.-led coalition, particularly the U.S. itself, claims that this support is all for the common cause of eradicating Daesh, their plans for Raqqa following a Daesh defeat could make the future goal of a united Syria all but impossible to achieve.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but if these reports about the purported US use of white phosphorous and cluster bomb weapons are true, isn't the use of both white phosphorus and cluster bomb weapons banned, internationally, for use against civilians?!?

It appears that the US military is rapidly going rogue, with an "ends justify the means" attitude (now, where have we heard THAT before?!?), and a completely cavalier "Assassinations R Us" level of insensitivity to civilian deaths.

RUSSIA’S FOOD SHIPMENTS TO QATAR ARE A SOFT POWER MASTERSTROKE

The Qatari-Saudi Cold War is a geopolitical scheme cooked up by the US and the UAE, as I explained in my 21st Century Wire article about “The Machiavellian Plot to Provoke Saudi Arabia and Qatar into a “Blood Border” War”, but it’s not exactly a surprise that it happened. My September 2016 forward-looking analysis about “The GCC: The Tripartite’s Big Barter In The ‘Eurasian Balkans’” presciently forecast that a second round of Gulf tensions was bound to occur, and that the Great Power Tripartite of Russia, Iran, and Turkey could cooperate with Qatar in helping to break Riyadh’s stranglehold on the GCC. Moreover, my Geopolitica.Ru analysis from earlier this week about “Russia’s Energy Diplomacy In The Mideast: Boom Or Bust?” accurately predicted that Russia will play a role in mediating tensions between the two feuding GCC countries, which has now officially come to pass with the Qatari Foreign Minister’s visit to Moscow this weekend.

US IS NOW BASICALLY IN AN ILLEGAL UNDECLARED WAR WITH SYRIA AND NOBODY’S TALKING ABOUT IT

And the cold hard truth needs to come to light: the U.S. has illegally invaded Syria’s territory. The fact that the Syrian military cannot realistically drive the U.S. military out (especially while it is embroiled in numerous battles with ISIS and other radical guerrilla forces) does not constitute tacit acceptance of the U.S. military presence there. In fact, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has called the U.S. and its associated forces “invaders” numerous times because the U.S. has no legal basis to operate inside Syrian territory.

On top of this unwarranted invasion, the U.S. claims it has the right to defend itself from troops loyal to Syria’s current government. It also claims it has the right to defend forces that operate under the control of the U.S.-led coalition. This is not a new proposal under Donald Trump; Barack Obama authorized U.S. air power to defend the U.S.-trained fighting forces in Syria, even if that meant attacking Syrian government troops.

Webmaster's Commentary:

My dear Antimedia.com: WRH has been covering this illegal and immoral war on the part of the US government for quite some time now!!

But having said that, what concerns me deeply is, just how long it will take for the US military to be in direct conflict with Russian and/or Iranian troops in Syria, who were invited, at the behest of the Syrian government, to get rid of the jihadists fighting against it.

Just yesterday, as reported at zerohedge.com:

BOMB ATTACK ON US EMBASSY IN KIEV

An explosive device as been thrown into the grounds of the American embassy in Kiev. The blast occurred in the early hours of the morning injuring no one.

This comes after a far larger rocket attack on the Polish consulate in the Galician city of Lutsk in March of this year.

Ukraine is not only a lawless state and a military aggressor against the Republics of Donbass, but it is moreover a failed state that is a breeding ground for violence and terrorism.

Just because no group claims responsibility for an attack does not mean that it is not a terrorist attack and the low-grade attack on the US Embassy in Kiev, like the more serious attack on a Polish consulate months ago, is a manifest act of terrorism.

The frequent acts of political and random violence in post-coup Ukraine has made it so that Ukraine’s security services simply cannot be trusted to keep the peace.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This... is officially insane, if, in fact, Ukraine's ultra-right has, in fact, called for an alliance with ISIS against Russia.

Such a possible collaboration is chilling in the extreme.

Fulfilling its promise to all other signatories of the Vienna deal, Russia has cut its crude production by 300 000 barrels per day. It was not only state-owned companies like Rosneft and Gazprom Neft that took part in the production cutting, but also private majors like LUKOIL and Surgutneftegaz. But as time goes on, Russian majors will incrementally question the validity of the production cuts that are sure to hinder their potential output growth.

Syria's Cauldron: One Step Away from Major Showdown

Syrian rebels from Eastern Lions and Ahmad al-Abdo Army formations – the elements of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) - state that they are «intensely» attacking Iranian-backed pro-government militias in the eastern Syrian desert in an operation dubbed «The Land is Ours». The forces’ strength is around four thousand. The main enemies are the Islamic State (IS), Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Syrian government-allied forces. The operation is conducted near Syria’s borders with Iraq and Jordan. This time, the mission is to squeeze the SAA and its allies out from the desert areas.

Evidently, one of the goals pursued by the escalation of hostilities is to demonstrate that the armed opposition is a force to reckon with at a time the crisis management talks are held in Astana and Geneva. Obviously, this is an attempt to subvert the ongoing international peace efforts.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The unanswered question here is, just how long will it be, before US and Russian forces engage in direct combat in Syria?!?

The Pivot? Qatar Foreign Minister To Visit Moscow On Saturday

With Gulf tensions still rising, and culminating with last night's report on Arabia CNN that Qatar has put its armed forces on the highest military preparedness level, the small nation may be preparing to unveil its "Eastern pivot": moments ago Russia's RIA news agency reported that the Qatari foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani will Visit Moscow on Saturday where he will hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"Negotiations will be held on Saturday," a Russian foreign ministry official said. However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin does not yet plan to meet with al-Thani.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Lavrov is a realist, par excellence. I am very convinced that if asked, Russia will come to Qatar's aid in a very reasonable, and responsible way.

That having been said, I would like to urge Qatari foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and the Qatari government, to take every practical precaution to insure that your plane does get to Moscow; this port blockade could well escalate into an air/sea blockade in a heartbeat.

You may well need to "get out of Dodge" (leave before this happens) sooner than your Saturday meeting, by a route that neither Saudi Arabia and its US government partner in war crimes, can detect.
